Privacy Policy — BirthDays App.
Version 2.0 · Last updated: October 18, 2026. Applies to iOS and Android.
1. Who is responsible
The BirthDays app is developed and published on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android) by Marcelo Costa, an individual developer based in Curitiba, PR, Brazil, who is the controller of the personal data processed by the app under Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Law 13.709/2018).
Privacy contact (data protection officer): contato@unicode.com.br, phone/WhatsApp +55 41 99169-1600.
This policy applies to both the iOS and Android versions of the app. For the website, see the general privacy policy (in Portuguese).
2. Summary
- BirthDays stores the birthdays you add so it can remind you of them.
- Your data is kept in your account on Google Firebase. We do not sell your data.
- Contacts, photos and camera are accessed only with your permission and only when you use those features.
- The app shows no ads and does not track you for advertising. We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics only to measure usage and fix crashes.
- You can delete your account and all your data in the app or by email.
3. Data we collect
Account. When you sign in with Google, Apple or email and password, we receive your name (if provided), email address and a user identifier generated by Firebase Authentication. If you use "Hide My Email" with Sign in with Apple, we only receive Apple's relay address. We never have access to your password.
Birthdays. The person's name, birth date and, if you choose, a photo. This data is linked to your account so you can access it on any device.
Device contacts (optional). With your permission, the app reads names and birthdays from your address book so you can choose which ones to import. Only the contacts you select are saved to your account; the rest of your address book never leaves your device and is not sent to us or to third parties.
Photos and camera (optional). With your permission, you can take a photo or pick one from your library to illustrate a birthday. Only the selected image is used and saved with that entry; the app does not access or upload the rest of your library.
Notifications. To send reminders, the app uses a device notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple/Google push services).
Usage and diagnostics. Firebase Analytics records usage events (screens opened, features used), device model, operating system, app version, language, approximate country and an app installation identifier. Firebase Crashlytics records crash reports (stack trace, app and device state at the time of the crash). These services are configured without the advertising identifier (IDFA / Advertising ID) and are not used to track you across other apps or websites.
4. How we use it
- Create and secure your account and sync your birthdays across devices (performance of the service you use).
- Send the birthday reminders you set up.
- Understand how the app is used and fix crashes (legitimate interest).
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to your requests.
The app has no ads. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell personal data.
6. Storage, security and international transfers
Data is stored on Google Firebase servers, which may be located outside Brazil (for example, in the United States). This international transfer follows the safeguards provided by the LGPD and Google's data protection terms.
Communication between the app and the servers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS), and database access rules allow each user to read and change only their own data.
7. How long we keep it
- Account data and birthdays: while your account exists. After deletion, they are erased within 30 days, including from backups.
- Analytics data: up to 14 months.
- Crashlytics crash reports: up to 90 days.
8. How to delete your account and data
In the app: open BirthDays, go to the account area and tap Delete account. Your account, birthdays and saved photos are erased.
By email: if you no longer have the app installed, email contato@unicode.com.br with the subject "Delete BirthDays account" from your registered address. We confirm deletion within 30 days.
You can also ask us to delete only some data (for example, photos) while keeping your account. Usage and crash data, which do not directly identify you, follow the periods in the previous section.
9. Permissions and how to revoke them
- Contacts — import birthdays from your address book.
- Camera — take a photo for a birthday.
- Photos — pick an image for a birthday.
- Notifications — receive reminders.
All are optional: the app works without them, just without the related feature. You can revoke any permission at any time in iPhone Settings (Settings > BirthDays) or Android Settings (Apps > BirthDays > Permissions).
10. Your rights
Under the LGPD (and similar laws such as the GDPR and CCPA, where applicable), you may at any time and free of charge:
- confirm whether we process your data and access it;
- correct incomplete, inaccurate or outdated data;
- request anonymization, blocking or deletion of unnecessary or unlawfully processed data;
- request portability of your data;
- request deletion of data processed based on your consent and withdraw that consent;
- learn with whom we share your data;
- file a complaint with Brazil's National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) or your local authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email contato@unicode.com.br. We respond within 15 days.
11. Children
BirthDays is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect children's data. If you learn that a child has provided us data without parental consent, email contato@unicode.com.br and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The last-updated date is shown at the top of this page and, for significant changes, we will notify you in the app. Previous versions are available on request.
