Privacy Policy — Guillotine.
Version 1.0 · Last updated: October 18, 2026. Applies to iOS and Android.
1. Who is responsible
The Guillotine game is developed and published on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android) by Marcelo Costa, an individual developer based in Curitiba, PR, Brazil, who is the controller of the personal data processed by the game under Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Law 13.709/2018).
Privacy contact (data protection officer): contato@unicode.com.br, phone/WhatsApp +55 41 99169-1600.
This policy applies to both the iOS and Android versions. For the website, see the general privacy policy (in Portuguese).
2. Summary
- Guillotine is a hangman game for adults and teens. It is not intended for children.
- To play, you sign in with Google, Apple or email, with age verification.
- We store your nickname, name (if provided), age range, scores and game history on Google Firebase.
- Your verified age determines which visual effects you can enable: blood mode is only available to users aged 18 or over.
- The game shows no ads and we do not sell data.
- You can delete your account and all your data in the game or by email.
3. Data we collect
Account. When you sign in with Google, Apple or email and password, we receive your email address, your name (if provided) and a user identifier generated by Firebase Authentication. If you use "Hide My Email" with Sign in with Apple, we only receive Apple's relay address. We never have access to your password.
Profile. The nickname you choose and, optionally, your name.
Age. Your date of birth or age range, and the result of the age verification (see section 4).
Games and scores. Score, date and duration of games, words played, correct and wrong guesses, level and game settings, to build your history and the leaderboards.
Settings. Game preferences such as the visual effects mode (with or without blood), sound and language.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone data, and we do not use the advertising identifier.
4. Age verification and age-based content
Guillotine shows a guillotine that lowers with each wrong guess. There are two effect modes when you lose:
- Standard mode: the screen flashes red with a "You lost" message, with no blood.
- Blood mode: shows blood and the head falling into a basket. It can only be enabled by users aged 18 or over with a verified age, and it is off by default.
To apply these rules and comply with the law (including Brazil's Digital Statute of Children and Adolescents, Law 15.211/2025), we verify your age when the account is created. We use the age-range signal provided by Apple (Declared Age Range) and Google Play (Age Signals), when available, together with the date of birth you provide. We do not request or store photos of ID documents.
Age verification data is used only for this purpose: allowing or blocking the account and content modes. It is not used for advertising or behavioral profiling.
Accounts may not be created by anyone below the minimum age shown in the game's store age rating. If we identify an account below that age, it will be blocked and its data deleted.
5. How we use it
- Create and secure your account and sync your progress across devices (performance of the service).
- Verify your age and unlock only age-appropriate content (legal obligation).
- Store scores and history, and build leaderboards (performance of the service).
- Respond to your requests and comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell personal data.
6. What other players see
If the game shows leaderboards, other players can see only your nickname and your score. Email, name, age and date of birth are never shown to other players. You may choose a nickname that does not identify you.
8. Storage, security and international transfers
Data is stored on Google Firebase servers, which may be located outside Brazil (for example, in the United States), with the safeguards provided by the LGPD and Google's data protection terms.
Communication between the game and the servers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS), and database access rules allow each player to read and change only their own data (except nickname and score on leaderboards).
9. How long we keep it
- Account, profile, scores and history: while your account exists. After deletion, they are erased within 30 days, including from backups.
- Age verification result: while the account exists, only to prove the verification was performed.
- Accounts blocked for age reasons: data is deleted as soon as the block is confirmed.
10. How to delete your account and data
In the game: open Guillotine, go to Settings > Account and tap Delete account. Your account, profile, scores and history are erased, and your nickname is removed from leaderboards.
By email: if you no longer have the game installed, email contato@unicode.com.br with the subject "Delete Guillotine account" from your registered address. We confirm deletion within 30 days.
11. Your rights
Under the LGPD (and similar laws such as the GDPR and CCPA, where applicable), you may at any time and free of charge:
- confirm whether we process your data and access it;
- correct incomplete, inaccurate or outdated data;
- request anonymization, blocking or deletion of unnecessary or unlawfully processed data;
- request portability of your data;
- request deletion of data processed based on your consent and withdraw that consent;
- learn with whom we share your data;
- file a complaint with Brazil's National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) or your local authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email contato@unicode.com.br. We respond within 15 days.
12. Children
Guillotine is not intended for children and does not knowingly collect children's data. If you learn that a child has created an account, email contato@unicode.com.br and we will block the account and delete the data.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the game changes — for example, when launching new features that involve other data. The last-updated date is shown at the top of this page and, for significant changes, we will notify you in the game before collecting any new data.
